STAARA RECITAL, AUGUST 2025 

 

What is STAARA? 

Staara, a fusion of two-words ‘star’ and ‘taara’, takes you right to the heart of the purpose at Music Central, which is to provide students of all ages an excellent and an affordable opportunity of a world-class music education. ‘Staara’- Let your Light Shine! provides students (online and in-person) of Music Central an opportunity to showcase their skill and ability.  

 

What happens at STAARA? 

Music Central makes every effort to encourage students to grow and excel in performance skills.  STAARA provides a platform for students and faculty to showcase their talent. Students desiring to perform, may send a video of their performance/song/piece in the category available. A panel of judges will select the best performances in the given categories.  

The finalists perform on Saturday 30th August. 2025 from 5:30 pm onwards.   

 

What are the categories available for submission? 
 

STAARA Recital August 2025 will include the following: 

  1. Solo Performance with Backing Track 

  2. Duet Performance  

  3. Solo Performance without Backing Track  

  4. Band Performance 

 

How do Students Participate? 

  • Students need to register using the following link before 11th August, 2025. 

  • Students submit the video before 5 pm on 16th August 2025 to Mr. Solomon Sanate  programmes@musiccentral.in via WeTransfer or Google Drive.   

  •  Late submissions will not be considered. (For details about the video format and length, please refer the categories and audition requirements.) 

  • Finalists will be announced by 20th August 2025.  

  • A rehearsal will be organized for finalists on 23rd August at Music Central from 5 pm onwards. All finalists are required to attend.  

  • Finalists perform from 5:30 pm onwards on Saturday 30th August, 2025 at Music Central, Cooke Town.

What are the specific requirements for each category? 
 

🎶 DUET PERFORMANCE 

Eligibility: 2 students performing together 

Audition Requirements: 

  • One song of your choice (max duration: 4 minutes) 

  • Must demonstrate harmonization and coordination 

  • Instrumental or backing track permitted 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Vocal blend and harmony 

  • Chemistry between performers 

  • Balance and timing 

Registration Fee: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only inclusive of GST).  

Note: Duets must show both voices/instruments contributing equally. 

 

🎙️ SOLO PERFORMANCE 

Eligibility: Open to all students 

Audition Requirements: 

  • One song of your choice (max duration: 3 minutes) 

  • Acapella or with instrument/backing track (provided by participant) 

  • Judged on vocal ability, stage presence, originality, and confidence 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Pitch and vocal control 

  • Emotional expression and dynamics 

  • Overall performance impact 

Registration Fee: Rs. 300/- (Rupees Three Hundred Only inclusive of GST).  

Note: Shortlisted soloists may be asked to perform a different genre or song style for final round. 

 

🎸 BAND PERFORMANCE (3+ MEMBERS) 

Eligibility: 3 or more students (vocals and/or instruments) 

Audition Requirements: 

  • One song of your choice (max duration: 5 minutes). 

  • Must bring own instruments or coordinate with the school in advance. 

  • Original compositions are allowed and encouraged. 

Selection Criteria: 

  • Team coordination and synchronization 

  • Musical arrangement and creativity 

  • Stage dynamics and energy 

Registration Fee: Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only inclusive of GST).  

Note: Bands will be judged as a unit. Every member's contribution will be considered. 

 

General Guidelines 

  • Prepare and record one-performance per student, per category that best highlights the student’s music abilities. 

  • The video must be clear and presentable, with good lighting and audio quality.  

  • Students need to ensure they choose a piece or song that they are confident with or have sufficient time to practice and acquire the level of confidence required for a performance at such an event. 

  • Video format include: MP4 or MOV (under 500 mb). 

  • Panelists include music central staff, teachers and professional musicians. The panel’s decision will be final.  

  • Panel reserves the right to request the participant to change the song for the audition or final performance. ​
